The sovereign’s obverse has changed regularly with a succession of monarchs, below we have listed the changes. This is explained further in our video –  link below.

 

George III reigned 1760-1820 faces to right.

 

George IV reigned 1820-1830 faces to left.

 

William IV reigned 1830-1837 faces to right.

 

Victoria reigned 1837-1901 faces to left, 3 designs young, jubilee & old.

 

Edward VII reigned 1901-1910 faces to right.

 

George V reigned 1910-1936 faces to left.

 

George VI reigned 1936-1952 faces to left.

 

Elizabeth II reign 1952- faces to right, 3 designs up to 1968 uncrowned, then a new design with The Queen wearing a tiara, and in 1984 another design was introduced.
